5-19-2013---.. Time to Wake Up!

Today, I was at a family reunion, and I thought I would try something tasty for breakfast, while also getting my caffeine hit!

So.... what would be an alternative?
...Well... How about French toast and coffee syrup? YUM! And that's exactly what I did! It was a trial run, and I would prefer to try a healthier approach, but you work with what you have, and when you're literally in the boondocks, where cell reception is terrible... you don't "gots" a lot to work with. Still, I received good reviews from my coffee-lovers, including my sixteen year old cousin (who is about to get her driver's license, might I add!).
I used a basic vanilla french toast recipe, so however you like making yours, that's what I recommend, this post specifically pertains to the syrup. ;) I recommend you get the first step done before you start your french toast. This also goes great with pancakes!

Recipe:
1-2 Tablespoons of ground coffee, depending on how strong you would like the flavor
2 oz. Water (I used a double shot glass)
3-4 Tablespoons of Light corn syrup [This is the part I would like to adjust]
Optional:Chocolate syrup... if you're a mocha fan!

1. Boil the water in a microwaveable glass, add coffee and steep.
2. Using a coffee filter (OR a paper towel with a mesh spoon), strain the coffee through into whatever you would like to use to serve the syrup.
3. Add corn syrup and stir. The consistency does not need to be very thick, but it should be to your preference; add more corn syrup if you would like it to be thicker, add more water if you would like it to be more liquid-y.
4. OPTIONAL: If you want a mocha syrup instead, add 1 Tablespoon of chocolate syrup to the mixture and stir.
5. Serve!
